I'm begging you. Please enlighten me as to how a "terrorist" looks. Because obviously i'm not getting it. How do you associate an article or clothing to a murderer?!
my father was sharing with us a story about his day. And he said I was at work and i saw somebody come in to the room dressed like a soldier holding a ghutra and agal in his hands. What is a ghutra and agal you may ask. A ghutra is basically a red and white scarf wrapped around the head (part of arab/khaleeji culture). Like this man:

The red and white scarf is the ghutra and the agal is the black thing holding it down. Anyways back with the story. So the man comes into the room where my dad's working dressed as a soldier and holding a ghutra and agal in his hands. My dad goes over to talk to him and ask him what he's holding (my dad full well knows what it was he's holding but he goes over to see what the man would answer him). So when my dad asks, the soldier man says 'I'm dressed up as a terrorist". Full ignorance. my dad just turns his back on him and leaves.

When my dad was sharing this "experience" with us I got really mad. Full on mad. Because truthfully it wasn't fair. Like how shallow are you going to be anyways? Go to the point of taking a person's CULTURE and using it as a sign of terrorism?

Oh, you know what? maybe I'll go and wear a mini skirt and tank top in public and be like I'm dressed as a "prostitute". That's nice isn't it? Just because some people have no background and culture doesn't mean they have to look down on other people's culture.

People piss me off. I'm glad I wasn't there because I would have slapped that man hard across the face. My parents can stand that stuff. They probably have enough wisdom to ignore the ignorant. Obviously I'm not that mature. And obviously I'm outspoken.

So will somebody please enlighten me as to how a terrorist LOOKS?

Sadiya Buta

Sadiya Buta, 15, is getting attention for much more than what she wears on the tennis court.

It’s 100 degrees in Arizona, but that doesn’t keep Sadiya Buta off the court. She is part of one of the top doubles teams in her high school’s division. Like her teammates, she is clad in her school’s team shirt and skirt, but Sadiya also wears an extra layer of pants, a long sleeve shirt and a hijab, as part of her traditional Muslim beliefs.
The 15-year-old is looked at like a phenom in the sport, only picking up a racket for the first time last year. Her family recently came to Tucson, Arizona from a refugee camp in Kenya. Before leaving the camp in Dadaab, Kenya, Sadiya’s family was forced out of war-torn Somalia. The International Rescue Committee resettled Sadiya, her 5 siblings and her parents in the United States.
The adjustment for “Sandy,” as her friends call her, was a challenge, to put it mildly. She acts as a translator for her family, as they all learn English and her parents look for work. Despite the obstacles, Sadiya does whatever it takes to tackle her home life with school work and tennis, including waking up at 3 a.m. to complete her homework to keep up her better-than-perfect GPA. She admits that people at school made fun of her at first, but she paid no attention, determined to keep her eye on the ball.

The month of Ramadan is that in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction; therefore whoever of you is present in the month, he shall fast therein, and whoever is sick or upon a journey, then (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days; Allah desires ease for you, and He does not desire for you difficulty, and (He desires) that you should complete the number and that you should exalt the greatness of Allah for His having guided you and that you may give thanks.

A hadith about the month of ramadan:

اوله رحمة اوسطه مغفرة آخره عتق من النار

The beginning of Ramadan is full of mercy, the middle of Ramadan is full of forgiveness and the end of Ramadan is the refuge from Hell Fire.

A great duaa to read everyday of Ramadan after isha prayers is Dua' al-iftitah (دعاء الافتتاح).

May Allah bless you all in this glorious month of mercy.

ya got back last night, and i'm extremely exhausted and caught halfway through jet lag. my trip was great though! Holland is gorgeous!! anybody who lives there is like so lucky! We went touring around the cities and went to Belgium and Germany. It was like a tour and a mini-shopping spree, in a way. My camera isn't hooked to the computer so i can't upload the pictures yet, but i promise my next post will be full of pictures :)

So i've been pretty disgusted with the "anonymous" sunni/shia haterz comments on some blogs. I really hate how some of these commenters are really judgmental about things that are really wrong. I hate how they're sometimes like "sunnis are better because... and shias are backwards stupid people" or "shias are better because... sunnis are backwards stupid people". And although i do believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I still think that when you're making a comment, you should atleast be able to provide CORRECT information and in a civil manner. Because seriously, if you want to know about the life choices of others, then ask THEM, otherwise you really don't wanna know.

And anyways about the whole sunni-shia rant, I think that there really is no need for it. I mean people who think that sunnis& shias don't need to "be together" or shouldn't "be civil" with eachother, need to come join our family sometime.

My mom is sunni, and my dad is shia, and they fell in love and have been successfully married for 19 years and there has been not ONE day where the topic of sunis or shias came up between them. I mean seriously, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what "part" of islam you are, it's the fact that you're muslims alone that counts.

*btw: inshallah i'll be leaving for europe tomorrow. I'll be back blogging when we arrive there safely inshallah. :D
and of course i will be taking many pictures and posting them :D

My will power isn't doing too well. I'm fasting. Just because...and i still have 2 more hours. I was fasting yesterday too. I made it through but i was dying of thirst and hot. I said i was thirsty atleast 30 times yesterday but today's better. :) we're on summer vacation!! Actually school was over since June 5th but i didn't tell you, I didn't want all the little people upset at me cuz i finished school and they're still sweating through exams.
I'm PSYCHED! GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAT???

My brother and I are leaving for EUROPE on Sunday!!!!! We're going to da Netherlands YO! :D
You're jealous!!! YOU ARE JEALOUS! YESSSSSS YOU ARE! hahah. suckers. lol. So far i know how to say................ nothing in dutch. But oh well. Because you know what? YOU know WHAT?? Money speaks every language :) hahha. And you know why you're even MORE jealous? Because it's Hijab heaven there. It'll be such a change from living here in the states. Out here, there's nothing in store except a bathing suits, and...short shorts....and tank tops and bathing suits....
but when some genius discovers how to use these items and make them hijabified will be the day I will LOVE living in the U.S.:

Our grapes are growing and other pictures

We have like 6 grape vines that we planted last year and now they're growing!! so we officially have home-grown grapes!! :) yay!

And you can't possibly tell me you don't know what grape leaves look like!! ah well...here they are:

My mom and i went outside yesterday and hung out on the porch. It was so sunny and humid and hot and ick. Then all of a sudden the clouds started coming in:

And more and more clouds until it got really dark

It started to storm and rain and thunder then-believe it or not it started to HAIL. Fat snow chunks for about an hour, in JUNE! and i live in the u.s.a so it's supposed to be HOT here NOT hailing :)

Then about 2 hours later the clouds start to clear up and the sun comes up again...

...and I resume the rest of my quest for pictures.

Of shoe closets and fridges

you guys that know me, know that there is nothing i like better than snapping a picture or two. :) so with that said, I will go on with my story:
My dad and mom have been looking around for a little freezer to store extra things in for some time. So today like an hour ago, my dad walked in and he was like
"Hey (mom's name) can you help me unload the freezer i just got from the truck?"
My mom of course surprised, agreed. :)
So the next thing I see is them walking up up the stairs to the entrance of the house hauling a black freezer looking thing.
Then they find out that it's NOT a freezer but a fridge, and they're like 'what the heck are we gonna do with a fridge?!'
and so they look around the house to see where to store it. Our house has alot of storage rooms, but they're all full. Except one.
The shoe closet. :D

I listen to the girls cracking jokes denying God's existence. Life was life. They said they didn't believe in some old man with a beard who decided he was God. What the hell?! Is that really their image of a God? A man with a beard?! Astaghfurallah.
I'm scared of how much they don't understand.
They say there is no heaven.
No hell.
Nothing happens.
No God.
I want to scream. I feel pain with their words. I want to yell out. Tell them about Islam. But i know they won't understand, they can't.
frustration just overwhelms me, i hate not being able to talk. Silently I disagree fiercely. Silence is not consent. It is objection.
They say you need Jesus in your life.
Inside I smirk.
I laugh.
I'm the one who has Jesus in my life.
They're the ones who need him.
They're the ones crying out for help.
Praying for the creation to save them.
Not God.
Inside I am an emotional turmoil.
They blame oppression of Islam
They blame stereotypes
All I wanna do is tell them to stop.
Turn them right.
Tell them the truth
But whenever I open my mouth
I run out of words
I imagine putting my hand in murky water

OMG GUESS WHO'S BACK!

lol :P I"m back!!!!!!!! wohoo! it feels so good to go on the internet and look at my blog again! Our internet connection has FAILED terribly, actually it hasn't been working at all and we finally got it to work yesterday! MY LIFE SUCKS WITH NO INTERNET! ;p lol i sound like some spoiled girl with no life. Well....actually the last part is true. no just kidding! i have a life, though suckish at times but still, it will have to do!!!
AGHHHHHHHHHHHH i missed you guys soooooooo much! *runs up and hugs you* (well only if you're part of the female gender.)

so how is life going for ya'll (got my little southern accent ther ;p)? the weather is awesome over here, by awesome i mean rainy and sunny at the same time :) no rainbows though, if i see one i'll catch it on my awesome digital camera.

I can't believe school is about to end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am so ready for summer vacation, although the weather clearly isn't.

my mom and i were shopping at tj maxx and we were really happy cuz they had LOADS AND LOADS AND LOADS of scarves (perfect shayla style super gorgeous!) and they're pretty cheap compared to ones that are sold online. they cost about $10.00 but they're really good material. :)

Happy monday by the way! although i don't think anybody says that. well...

The tree we will always remember

Everyone knows the story of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him), and when i read it in the quran, i catch myself thinking 'If it was me, I wouldn't have done that, I wouldn't have eaten from the tree after Allah specifically told me not to.'
And then I realize how wrong I am. if I was in prophet Adam's place, I would have done the same thing. I would have eaten from the tree. because isn't the tree representing something haraam? Something Allah (s.w.t) clearly forbade. Life now is full of trees just like that. But instead of trees they are material things, they are temptations.

Arent hatred, malevolence, mistrust, dispondency, drinking alcohol, pre-marital relationships, adultery,murdering, gambling, backbiting, cheating, theft, oppression, telling lies,being arrogant, doubting Allah (s.w.t) and having too much pride all like trees Allah has forbidden us to eat from? And yet how many of us can truthfully say to ourselves that we have never tasted the fruit of at least one of these trees? There is a reason that the story of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) is in the Quran. there is a reason it happened. And if we submit ourselves to the temptations of the world we might never taste the sweetness of paradise.

In surat Al Baqara-Ayat 30-39: "And recall when your Lord said to the Angels, I am about to place a vice-generate in the earth, they said, "will You place such who will spread disorder and shed blood'? And We praise You commending You and sanctify You; He told, 'I know what you know not'. And Allah the Exalted taught the names of all things to Adam. Then presenting all shines before the Angels said, "Tell the names of these, if you are truthful." They said 'Sanctity to You", We know nothing, but what You Taught us, no doubt, You alone are the Knower and the Wise. He "said, "O Adam tell them the names of all shines, when Adam had informed them of the names of all, He told, had I not told you that I know all the hidden things of the beavers and earth, and I know whatever you disclose and whatever you hide. And recall, when We ordered the angels to prostrate before Adam, then all prostrated save Iblis. He refused, boasted, and became disbeliever. And We said, "O Adam dwell you and your wife in this (paradise) and eat freely thereof where you will but do not approach this tree lest you become of the transgressors. Then Satan made them slip and got them out from the place where they lived, and We said, "get down, one of you is the enemy of the other and you have to stay in the earth and to make use of it for a time. Then Adam learnt certain words from his Lord so Allah accepted his penitence. Surely, He is the alone most Relenting, Merciful. We said, "you all get down from the paradise then if any guidance comes to you from Me, then who-so-ever followed My guidance, they have no fear nor any grieve. And those who disbelieve and shall belie My signs, they are the people of the hell, they have to live in it forever. "

Waste of life

I've been feeling a little down lately, and so many things are coming my way. I don't know how to explain anything anymore, so the only thing I could do was write a poem:

What a waste

The way the calm air lifted me

Carried me along

Watched the lives

Of others

How they moved

How they fell

How they could get up

Dig themselves out of the hole they’re in

And stand tall

Once again

I kept track

Saw progress

But somewhere along the lines

He fell

Down hard

Crashed into

The dirt covered ground

And lay there

Gathering the sins

Purity shed

Like dead skin

Face darkened

Where there might have been light

I waited

For him to stand

Again

To get up

And proclaim

The beauty

Of life

Yet he remained

On the dust swept

Dirt engraved road

Thinking this was life

Thinking he was right

He didn’t know someone

Was watching

From a distance

Marking the moves

He made

Didn’t know

Why he wouldn’t

Laugh anymore

He never reached his hand out

For help

For someone to lift him up

Instead he took people’s hands

And dragged them in

Into the hole he’d dug himself

He watched movies

To music

When he could’ve used

A couple of prayers

To brush up those

Mountain-sized sins

I saw him

Fall deeper and deeper

Desperate for help

Yet somehow not managing to realize

That he had fallen

Entertained

By freedom

Mistook life

For the end

When it was only the beginning

My heart broke

Wanting to do something

To make him stop

Digging himself deeper

But everywhere I turned

I saw a dead end

A stop sign

Flashing in my face

I was trapped

I tried to reach out

Tell him to hold on

Tell him I could lift him up

But he refused

He was too far down

For me to reach

He continued to live

Lies

Sins

And thought it was

Perfection

Thought it was

The truth

Yet he had mistaken the truth for lies

And lies for the truth

He had given up Islam

For a life

Of amusement

It's funny how people accept teen pregnancies, perverted minds, shows promoting sex, young children dating and inappropriate clothes just because it's "style"

It's funny how they refuse, reject a religion that teaches respect, purity, and truth.

I was talking to my friend yesterday and she brought up the topic of shows on T.V. she asked me if I watched the show "Sweet Life" and I said no, cuz i don't have cable. I asked her to tell me about it, and she did. This is how she explains it:

A girl becomes pregenant with a drummer from a band and when her parents find out they want to put the baby up for adoption or something. Later she finds out that that same drummer has made alot of girls pregenant and has a prostitute working for him. The girl also ends up having sex with her step brother.

By the time she's explained that my mouth is wide-open. The first question I ask her is " And your mom doesn't mind you watching something like this?!"

People, keep in mind that she's only 12 years old. 12!!

She answers me by saying " Oh she doesn't really care, like my aunt will call me and we'll be discussing the show for like an hour"

What? really? The mom doesn't care that her 12 year old daughter is watching a show full of sex, and prostitutes?

Wow. I mean the only thing i watch are the local channels which only have the really really cute cartoons teaching toddlers how to spell and read and write and add and subtract numbers.

And this isn't the first encounter I've had with one of my friends who can watch shows like that. i have friends who watch a show called 'Juno' with their families, and what is this sow about? basicaly teen pregenancies, perverted minds and sex.

All the shows seem to promote sex now, and the people who make the shows KNOW that adults aren't the only ones watching these. I mean all of a sudden it's like a show that doesn't have a slutty girl as a main character or doesn't have some type of dirty dancing or singing isn't a good show anymore!

And parents don't do anything to stop it! They watch these shows with their children.

And then when they're daughter gets pregenant when she's 16 they kick her out of the house or treat her badly. I mean what do you expect? It's like some parents are purposefully trying to corrupt their childrens mind.

that's why you don't seem to find pure, innocent children anymore. Everything around them seems to be promoting sex or style.

The clothing styles are made to reveal half of their body. And half the time, the girls wearing these clothes are no more than 10 years old! Believe me I've seen so many girls like that, I just think, why are the parents not doing anything to stop it?! I mean when i was 10 I ran around and played and played and played. i wasn't worried about what shirt would look cuter with these pants, or which pants made me look better! For God's sake I used to wear a pair of loose jeans any shirt i could find.

And now, the pressures of school has got everyone running around looking for a boyfriend, or girlfriend. It's just what made you cool. But why? And above that the parents don't care, that their children are 11 years old when they start dating. They think it's natural. NATURAL. They were like that when they were little so why not their children?

And then they complain why their children grow up so fast. They ask is there any way to stop the corruption of innocent minds?

The answer: Follow Islam.

Action hijabis and my fears

Why doesn't there seem to be action hijabis on google?! Why do al hijabis have to be posing. I've been googling hijabi w/hijab flying in the wind since forever. But there's nothing! Or a hijabi running or jumping or cleaning or playing or eating. Gosh darn it! I swear I'm gonna create my own line of hijabi actions and post it everywhere, it would make life so much easier! lol.
And you wonder why I care so much?
Here's my explanation:
Once upon a time, there was a girl named malekat (no that's not my real name! lol) who was on spring break. But OH NO! Alas her spring break was coming to an abrupt end. And she needed to clean her rooma nd get ready for school. But sadly she was too addicted to blogging, and so she didn't start cleaning right away. So she decided to make a post with a picture of a hijabi cleaning. But of course she didn't find one and cried and cried her heart out. Malekat had gone through ALL the trouble of turning on the computer, opening firefox, typing in google and searching for a hijabi cleaning only to find that no one thought it was even necessary to have a hijabi cleaning on google images. C'mon people~!!! This is the 21st century! Continuing my story: Then malekat had a genius idea! She said to herself "I'll take a picture of me in a hijab cleaning!!!!" and she started to smile and smile until suddenly her smile started to fade. She couldn't do that! She wasn't allowed to put her beautiful, astounding, amazing (all sarcasnm ;S) picture on the humongous (how do you spell that?) web world!! Oh darn. And that is the end of my thoughts right now, I am still debating what to do. I am off to tackle the scary monster of cleaning.How come litte children are scared of under the bed mosters or closet monsters or toilet monsters but not cleaning mosters? that is utter NON-sense, I am very scared of cleaning monsters!---------------------------------------------------------->>>>>>>>>

happy friday everyone! :) We got back from Jumuah like 3 hours ago but i didn't post sorry :( It feels good to post again! It was relly interesting yesterday, my mom, my dad and I had a discussion about prophets. We were talking about whether prophets made mistakes or not. i pointed out since they were people they were bound to make mistakes, but my dad thought I meant like 'sins' by saying mistakes, so he disagreed with me. But my mom and I pointed out that when Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) ate from the frobidden tree, he had made a mistake, and when Prophet Yunis left his people out of frustration, and got swallowed by the whale, was a mistake. Well eventually we reached the agreement that prophets, yes were people but of higher value, so therefore making their mistakes minor and unlike the sins of what people now make. so...with that said, do you agree or disagree about that?

At night before I go to sleep, I think about my life. Like a dream, hazy memories flash back in my mind. I'm living in a blessing. Happiness and sorrow, join together. I have to remember that life is nothing but a test. A beautiful day with blossoming flowers and twittering birds. A mother to greet me joyfully when i wake. A strong father guiding me through life. taking me one step at a time. A brother I learn from. Experience. And love bind us together. that alone is a blessing I am granted. One that I cannot thank Allah enough for. Days pass by, hours. Sometimes being alive is enough to make me happy. Footsteps in Islam. One foot in front of the other, we learn to crawl, to walk, to talk, to grow, and with every day we spread the message of Islam. From Prophet Adam to a baby child born today. islam is like a torch. When a muslim falls he hands the torch to the next muslim. Islam is a flame of truth. yet unlike fire, it will never die down. Islam itself will never fall. The beauty of prayer, the tears and the paths. The choices, the soothing words. The quran recited puts me in awe. Imagine. These words were the exact same as the ones the Prophet Muhammad (sala Allahou alayhi wa salam) recited. Perfect. words. Speaking the truth. Guiding whomever will listen. Whomever will open his heart to perfection, to bliss, to the truth of man's existence. Every muslim child born knows Allah. is pure. And perfect. yet the beauty is not only in knowing Allah. But getting closer to Him. In actions. in words. In thoughts. Every second that passes happens with Allah's permission. Every leaf that falls. Every breath we take in this world would not be possible, without Allah's powerful knowledge and consent.
Everyone is safe when they have Allah in their heart. It is a comfort to know that nothing will happen to you that Allah hasn't written. In Surah Baqarah verse 286:

Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability; for it is (the benefit of) what it has earned and upon it (the evil of) what it has wrought: Our Lord! do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake; Our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us, Our Lord do not impose upon us that which we have not the strength to bear; and pardon us and grant us protection and have mercy on us, Thou art our Patron, so help us against the unbelieving people.

Just knowing that gives those who believe in Allah comfort and ease. Whatever problems and hardships befall you, be assured that you CAN in fact handle it. Allah would never give a human something more that they can bear.

Surah 94

Al-Inshirah

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Have we not opened your breast,
and removed your burden
which had left you devoid of hope,
And exalted your fame?
Surely after hardship there is ease.
After hardship indeed there is ease.
So when you are free, work diligently
and turn your Lord with all your love.

Another day at school. In the morning I walk in the hallway to my classes. The sun is shining down hard, enough to completely blind me. I can't see. But I can feel. I walk through so lonely. I know people are all around. yet it still feels lonely. Walking across the old blue lockers that no one uses anymore. Passing a class, and another until I reach mine. The same routine, do now's and work. over and over. The same people. Never changing. But somehow providing a shelter of security. Everyone takes the person they dislike for granted, but somehow life wouldn't be the same without them. The circle could never be complete with a part-no matter how unimportant- missing. How come I see so many things?... Pay attention to the smallest details of a person?. Read their expressions and sadness better than anyone? I get those e-mails and those forwarded texts that are always saying that atleast two people in this world are thinking of you right now. Atleast one person that would die to be with you. And that everyone loves you and if someone hates you it's because they want to be just like you. But it's not true. It isn't.

School ends and I am waiting outside for my dad to pick me up. Usually I walk but I was in no mood, so I wait. It's raining. And there are little puddles on the ground and the cars keep zooming past. Time ticks, keeps on going. And while I wait I go thorugh my contacts list in my cellphone. Name after name. And with every name an image pops into my head of that person, or a phrase they've said. Until I get to the name "Lisa". Instead of an image popping inot my head I slowly rewind through the conversation we've had a long time ago. I don't know why I remember it . Or how. But it's just sorta stuck there. I imagine her voice in my head and try to connect it to her posts. While I was sitting waiting for my dad to come, I wanted to text her or call or something. But i don't, and instead keep going over the rest of the names in my contacts. But my mind is elsewhere. I am thinking of all of you. I am trying to imagine QuickItGirl sitting in class or maybe at back home. I try to put all of her posts and words to a certain face. But I can't. I think of her as a far away sister. I imagine ModestJustice also in school, a wide range of thoughts running through her mind. I imagine a hardworking, beautiful girl. I think of ahsya at school. Donned in a beautiful hijab. A witty, fun, sarcastic kind of girl. Joking around with her friends. I think of muneera in college or maybe still at home sick. Enduring long, hard and boring classes. Yet acting cool and simply amazing. I think of scarlet adyant, a muslimah in Indonesia. And all my muslimah sisters in blogsphere. I wish I could somehow meet all of you and see life through your eyes. I wish I could be a real friend and just be there. i wish I could meet the 3 teen bloggers (QickItGirl, ModestJustice and ahsya) and know just how their life goes. And so I wouldn't be the lonely muslimah around here. My dad pulls up later, and I continue my life. Continue living, continue blogging and continue meeting muslimahs from around the world.

How small we are.

Sometimes in life, there are roadblocks or stops in the way. Obstacles and sadness preventing you from going on. From living. And maybe all of life is like that. One roadblock after another. No space to breathe, from all the tears and sorrow. Somehow life keeps going on though. Somehow the clocks never seem to stop no matter how much you feel like hiding or dying. It never makes sense, the way life brings so many questions and yet somehow no answers. Confusion is always there, like a bad dream, or worse-a reality. Sometimes I just feel like quitting, like giving up my race against time. Waving the white flag of surrender. But there's always someone pushing you to do better, standing there for you to lie your head against, even though they might not seem to be there. Life goes on, people learn to accept. You can't judge a future by your past. Can't apply your mistakes to your present. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow isn't here yet. Live for today. If you died this minute what would you have wished you could've done? Think. And now get up and do it. Whether it's calling an old friend or wearing the hijab. It's not worth wasting any time. Your future is not certain and the past has already happened. The truth is evident, all you need to do, is open your eyes and look around you. Look at the trees, the birds, the sun, the people that make your life worth living. There's a purpose in everything. There isn't a single drop of water that fall down, without Allah's knowledge. The world would not survive a fracture of a milisecond without Allah. Everything and everyone is completley dependant on Him, whether we realize it or not. He gave us the choice of belief. He let us choose to follow or stray. But in the end, everything we do is counted for. There isn't a single person in the world who lies at night and doesn't think about what he's done. There isn't a person who doesn't have a heart, who doens't have a concious. Every person knows right from wrong, and whether they choose to aknowledge that or not, it's there. Life keeps going. Everything we go through is a test. One day for Allah (s.w.t) equals one thousand years of what we count. So how long have we lived in this life? 30 years, 40 years, 50 years, 120? That's still not even ONE day in Allah (s.w.t)'s measurements for the Hereafter. So imagine how SMALL humans are. How tiny we are in this world. Imagine how small our problems are compared to the turmoil and torture of the Day of Judgement. With every tick of the clock we are a second closer to the end. So, if you died this minute what would you have wished you could've done? Think. And now get up and do it.

Flying thoughts

A thought been running around in my head ever since I started watching Little mosque on the Prairie. It's funny how people can never know how they'll be introduced to Islam. Like the actors in Little mosque. Most of them aren't muslims but through their acting careers they've been exposed to the truth. So... technically if they don't convert/revert to Islam they could be punished for knowing the truth and yet not practicing it. And also these non-muslim actors have "lived as muslims" for a while through the show, so I wonder how they react when they hear people insulting muslims or when they see a muslimah walking down the street. They'd know all the little crevices and ways of being a muslim, and I just think that's so amazing. I mean if you think about it, it makes sense....Like if I could interview Rayyan (Sitara hewitt) I would just ask about her feelings about Islam before and after she was in this show. For some actors, maybe through this show they've gotten rid of "bad" islamic perspectives. I mean they're only humans so who knows how they thought about Islam before actually being a character in Little Mosque. Anyways I probably just lost everyone with my train of thoguhts :P. Oh, and for those who don't know what Little Mosque is visit this website and watch all the episodes: http://watchlittlemosque.com, I prefer it over Youtube, just because the episodes and seasons are more complete. Sorry i've been away from blogger for a while it feels good to be back :)
Basically I've been a silent reader of most of the blogs, gaining knowledge from the posts my muslim sisters & brothers are writing. It's hard to believe that before blogging I didn't know as much about Islam as I do now. I mean I prayed and fasted and did all that, but I didn't really understand alot about it. Like some issues about certain, more complex things in Islam really cleared up after I saw so many muslimahs talking about it and clearing their heart out. So this is a virtual thank you shout to all my fellow sisters. "luv ya all!"

Sadness and writers block

I want to cry. It's one of those times where I can't get the thoughts in my head and heart out on the blog. Maybe I'll be able to some other time. But for now. i'm sorry. I don't even understand what's going on, let alone trying to put my feelings in words. So I promise I'll spill everything out tomorrow.

What is it good fo'? absolutely nothin'!

I'm getting more and more sure that Bryan needs Islam. I know it. He is completely lost. In orchestra today he was really ticked and hadn't gotten over the break up with his girlfriend. And he was also dressed in a suit and tie. Why? Because he had a court case. My God. But when Essence and I asked him what was wrong, he handed us a poem he'd written and told us to read it. I don't remember it all, but it was the sweetest, saddest thing ever. The only line I remember really well is this:
"When I say 'Oh I'm fine' I want someone to look into my eyes and say 'tell the truth'.
That made my eyes burn and I was about to start crying. Because I write the same thing in my poems. I knew exactly what he meant. Bryan was always careful to hide his feelings. But that poem was amazing. I didn't know he could write that well. The poem also made me positive to get Islam across to him. Islam, because it prohibited him from doing all the things that made teachers, others and even himself categorize him into the "bad people" category. It fit in perfectly.
Islam forbids drugs and alcohol. Something he drinks sometimes, but hates.
Islam doesn't allow dating. A habit he wants to break loose of.
Islam doesn't allow stealing. Bryan doesn't steal! he doesn't even take money even for a beat.
I remember something he said once about money. Zach (an 8th grader in our class) had told Bryan that he'd bet money on something. Bryan said no. So Zach said OK then I'll just give you the money. And Bryan burst, he said "I don't like money! It's what got me into all the trouble I've been in since I was 10!"
Somethings people say just stay in mind, and this is one of them. Continuing my list:

Islam forbids hanging out with bad people. Bryan has gotten involved with gangs at one point.
And so many other things I could sit and list. Bryan NEEDS Islam and I'm going to get it across to him no matter what. He says 'Nothing good happens in his life' but he's wrong. His life CAN change. It can.

We watched a slide show in history today about the Vietnam War. And the song the teacher used in the background was "What is it good fo'? absolutely nothin'!" And it just made me think so much about stuff in life. Like so many things are good for nothing but we still do them. It really doesn't make a difference.This time, my long walk from schooll to home was not a really thought-provoking one. I just kinda walked and didn't think about anything because I don't want to. I just want to escape out of my thoughts and into the world of dreams. In Spanish, we're working on a project, making poster boards about a certaincountry of our choice for International Night at school. I chose to do it on Iraq just cuz I was born there, but now I really regret it. Just because googling "Iraq" on images doesn't get me anything I want, but war pictures and troops. It's not fair. And then what completely ticked me off was when a friend googled "Iraq" supposedly trying to help me, she was like "AWH! I googled Iraq on images and look what came up!" she says obnoxiously pointing to injured people that were victims of the war.
"And you think I don't know this stuff?!??" I reply.
She turns aways mumbling sorry and inside I was saying,
"Yea, my mom ran under bombs being dropped holding on to my baby brother trying to run to safety, while my dad was living hell too. Actually they were both living there then, the wars and things they've seen are miserable."

But really does it make any difference what I think? It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how hell-ish life was for my parents, it doesn't matter how much they've endured. Years ago, while people here (U.S.) were crying about not getting the dress/outfits they wanted,my dad and my mom were crammed into a basement trying to be invulnerable to the bombs and shooting with no food to eat, and my mom was pregenant with my brother (her first child), in the midst of all the bombing and war. that's why it gets me mad when people complain about the stupidest things ever, or are really obnoxious and stuck up. *sigh*
Anyways I had to get that out, it was really bothering me badly. I hope everyone is doing well and is in the best of health and iman.

My patience is completely GONE from people insulting Islam. I'm tiered of going on Youtube and other videos and reading comments that are nothing but prejudice and mean words, or not even just youtube, but other hateful websites. I don't get it. Do people have nothing better to do than insult a religion?! And above that, the TRUE religion. The RIGHT religion. The JUST and most NOBLE religion there is. Islam. I mean. For the people that only like to insult then this is a shout to ya'll :
"GO GET A LIFE FOR GOD'S SAKE!" lol. sorry I had to get that out. I'm just fed up with it. And then what's up with the stupid remarks anyways?? I get them alot because of my hijab. Here:
"Do you get HOT in that?"
"Did your parents FORCE you to wear it?"
"ARE YOU MARRIED?" (!!!)
"Do you EVER take it off?"
"Do you sleep with it?"

GOODNESS GRACIOUS! I mean...uh what am I supposed to say to them? I know this is old and stuff but it's STILL driving me INSANE. I've been getting these STUPID UN LOGICAL questions since day 1 of the hijab. And I'm quite fed up with the non-sense.
As you can see, I've had a very iffy day. (haha iffy!) isn't that such a cool word?

Thoughts from the heart 2

I walked into the orchestra room for class. We were going to be watching "The Pink Panther" because it was a Friday and we weren't going to play our instruments. We all sat down on the floor- our class consists of me, Essence (a close friend), a boy named Zach, a boy named Zaw, a baoy named Abbass (another Islam ditcher), a boy named Chad, a girl named Quamiya and a girl named Dontasia. And 10 minutes late as usual was Bryan. I say "as usual" for his tardiness because he always walks his girlfriend to class and then he comes to Orchestra. But anyways, after we settle down and start watching Pink Panther, Bryan gets drowsy. After some questions, Essence and I discover that he's drunk. DRUNK. And he's like 14 years old. In the morning he had put beer in his soda bottle, and drank it all, except for a little bit. I take the bottle of beer and soda and throw it in the trashcan, with him telling me not to. Essence and I test just how drunk he is by asking him to point to his nose or say the ABC's. He can't. Instead of touching his nose, he touches his cheeks or mouth. Oh God! Are you kidding me?! Drunk at 14? Me and Essence do all knds of things like puch him to see if he can feel or make him count to 10. Then I look over at Essence and tell her, "I hope this will make you think twice before you ever drink in the future."
"Ya, or else I might end up like this retard over here," she says pointing to brayan.
I say something like, " I mean am I the only one who's in a religion where all kinds of drugs and alcohol are forbidden?!"
Essence says, "Well no, like drugs are forbidden in Christianity and stuff but they say red wine is good for you or somehting because it has antioxidants or something like that..."
Then I go into this whole discussion about being able to find antioxidants in other things so why red wine?
Then the drunk person A.K.A bryan looks over and says that he's a Christian too.
Essence says, " Umm...nno you're not, they'd like kick you out of Church if you said that. I mean you're DRUNK!"
Then I say, " I'm glad muslims aren't even allowed to drink and go on drugs."
Bryan says," I have to try that religion."
he was drunk. And I'm sure he didn't even mean it. But still. There might be hope.

I walk down to the gym for P.E. class and later wish I hadn't. The teachers had gathered all 60-some or more boys and girls on the bleachers. You know how boys and girls have like certain "cliques" they're in, well that's what it's like. The boys mainly have 2 cliques: "The cool pervs that hang around chics" and the "uncool, unpopular/nerds". But it's really wrong, because most of the boys who end up in the "uncool" group are really actually cool. They're nice and funny. But they don't know that. Luis was one of the many that had been sorted automatically in the 'uncool/nerdy" group. Which isn't true for him because when I got to know him in the beggening of the school year, my first reaction was "Wow! he's so funny and awesome!" But now he's totally changed like most eveyrone has. He wants to be "cooler " and hang out with the "cool" little "chics" and the "cool" pervert boys. This is the worst thing he's ever done. Today in gym he came over to the girls and started giving them numbers. Numbers that rated them on THEIR BODY PARTS. What the hell?! WHy would someone do that? I mean....
And the worst problem is half the girls enjoyed it, and some really didn't care. Like when a girl got called to go up to the office for early dissmissal, Luis yelled across the gym "BE PROUD OF YOUR 6!"
And she laughed. She didn't try to scorn or ignore him, Nothing.
And I wasn't excluded from this body part "rating" either. My hijab and loose jeans and jacket didn't do anything. It didn't stop them from degrading me. So I wonder what happens to the girls dressed in tight, tight jeans and body-hugging shirts.
It just pissed me off-it made me absolutley FURIOUS that these boys- these "supposedly cool" boys filled their time with games like these. How true the words of Allah (s.w.t) were when He says,
"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allaah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful”

It's not happening

She handed it to me on my way to gym and ran to her class, ran. I know she wouldn't do that. She wouldn't commit suicide. She can't. I'm positive. But still. It scared me. I'm pretty sure I talked her out of it though. So. But I still have that note. I didn't throw it away. I'm not going to.
20 years from now, I want to get it out and look back at it. And cry. How can someone feel like that?

Thoughts from the heart

I went into the orchestra room when the bell rang to end the school day. I got my violin out of locker like I do everyday and slowly walked out. My head was about to burst and the heat outside was killing me. I love summer. Or atleast I used to love summer, until I became a hijabi and started to cover up more. It's not that I was hot, it just really bothered me seeing all the girl with their mini-skirts and skimpy little shorts all sitting, swarmed with boys. Supposedly it's still winter though. So the sentence about me loving or hating summer is pointless. But still. Anyways as I walked out of the orchestra room hanging on to my violin, I was met with a rush of hot air. I sighed and kept on walking. Then I heard someone calling my name behind me. I turn around and see that it's Bryan. I greet him with a hey and walk along asking where he's going. Apparently he's gotten a referral for walking out of a classroom. And so now he's suspended.

"No way Bryan why would you do that?!"
Bryan looks at me and shrugs, and has that stubborn look on his face that he always has when he's skipped a class.
Let me tell you a little bit about Bryan so you're not completely shocked.
Bryan skips almost every class of school, except orchestra, which is the only class I have with him. But before all the mothers out there start to gasp, I want to say one thing. Bryan has potential. He's an amazing person, he's not even bad and isn't like those boys that skip just for the attention and being "cool". Bryan isn't like that. He's a really good person, he's the kind of person who I can imagine reverting to Islam when he's older. If only he had the chance.

Anyways, he doesn't talk much about getting that referral, and I didn't expect him to but I said bye and went my way, walking home from school. And that walk took forever, but I was thinking so much about everything.
I thought about Bryan and his suspension. I thought about the skinny little models of girls that went to our school. I thought about the heat. Only because I couldn't avoid it. I thought about words, and things people have said. I thought about gym class.
Stupid, stupid gym class. This unit, and every day of the week we would be putting on blaring music and creating a dance to preform in front of maybe 60 students. Dancing. Blaring music. Everyone in the gym having fun, creating their dance. I was supposed to do it too. But I didn't. Why would I? I felt like collapsing right there on the floor, and crying, crying, crying. Not because of the dancing or music, because that was something I could get out of if i tried, but because of everything. Tiered of the boys swarming around the girls like candy. I was tiered of it all, tired of this stupid public school. They say that in a public school, difference is tolerated, but is it really? To me, it didn't matter what the school conduct rules said, it mattered how people felt. It was my first year as a hijabi. A decision I don't think I'll regret. But still. I found no connection in school. The people that had always been my friends,seemed far far away, in their land of makeup, clothes, skininess and of course the ultimate question of who would be their next date? It drove me crazy. Why date a boy if you had already planned out every detail of the day you would dump them?! And besides what was the point anyways? Long ago, 12 and 13 year olds were considered naiive children and yet now, most of the girls and boys in our school had gotten their first kisses since they were 10. What would you call that?! It was the same cycle over and over. Date a guy. Kiss them. Dump them. Date another guy. Kiss them. Dump them. Over and over and over. And this cycle usually took no more than a week to get over with. A friend dated a boy for a total of 3.5 hours and then got dumped for another "cuter" girl. Umm.? I was sick of all that flirting going on. Sick to death of it. The girl with her perfect, superstar shiny black hair that flipped around. Perfect body. Green eyes. Dressed in tight cutoff jeans and a fitting shirt. Everyone loved her. Of coure. I was sick of it.

That verse of the song 'Fairytale' has been stuck in my head forever. because to me, it all made sense. It was perfect. Especially that last line "She forgets why she came here".
Anyways on my walk home, I thought about Gaza and wondered why everyone had forgotten about the Palestinians. Or maybe it was just me? I don't know. I felt so bad that i was going on with my life and not doing anything that would really help. I was angry with myself and my feet ached. And my head hurt from thinking so much. But thoughts are inevitable. They are necessary and unavoidable. Finally I get home. But I am still thinking. Thinking about Lisa from A journey Westward from Tartary.
I think it just creeped in my mind. I've been replaying and replaying the conversation we had over the phone in my head like a memory I will never tier from remembering. The least thing I could do was remember. remember her story. Try to understand.

That song, I can't get it out of my head. It's stuck there. like glue. Finally I open the door to go into the house. I am greeted with a rush of cool air. Again I sigh and smile, well at least I tried to. I was so tiered, but I rushed to my room and prayed Dhuhr prayer and Asr since I don't have the oppurtunity or the place to pray it at school. After I am done prayingDhuhr, I sit down and recite Ayat Al-Kursi. And I start to cry. I don't know why. But I felt overwhelmed. Stuffed. Tiered of being blamed for everything. Sad. Like a flash back, I remember the conversation I had with my mom yesterday about what kind of classes and major I'd like to take in college. I had planned it all out. And college was far far away.In the future. With a sharp pang of guilt, I realized how stupid I had been to plan it all out. Allah(s.w.t) does what he pleases, and my plans were useless. I didn't even know if tommorow would come, let alone 5 more years in which I would even go into college. I didn't even know if I would be alive in5 years, or if I even wanted to be. I mentally scolded myself for my carelessness. I do that alot. I mentally scold myself too much. But...Anyways I get up and wipe the tears of my face and continue to pray Asr. Suddenly I felt like I didn't even want to. Like my prayers weren't coming from my heart anyways. Again like a flash back, I remember a part in a story called "If I should Speak" by Umm Zakiyyah where a college student who'd been a a very great muslim when she was youger suddenly let go of her religion, her hijab and prayers and started modeling, singing and staying in the company of men. Then one day she tried to pray and realized she'd forgotten all the words, because she'd gone so long without prayers. And then she stopped. On the day of her singing concert, after she had finished and was going back home, she gets in a car accident and dies. And she was 19 years old. Had she died muslim? Obviously not. She'd wasted all those days of where her iman was very high. She'd wasted all those days of fasting and praying just to sing and model. And then she died. Killed. There's a part in this book, where it's describing death from the Quran:

"As for the disbelieving (or corrup) man, when he leaves this world and eters the Hereafter, stern and harsh angels come down to him from heaven. Their faces are black, and they bring with them sack-cloth from Hell. They sit around him, as far as the eye can see. The Angel of Death comes and sits at his head and says, 'O evil soul, come out to the anger and wrath of God!'...The soul will be dragged out of his body with as much difficulty as a many-pronged skewer being pulled through wet wool (the veins and nerves will be destroyed by it). He will be cursed by every angel between heaven and earth, and by every angel in heaven. The gates of heaven will be locked and the people of every angel will pray to God not to allow his soul to ascend through their domain. He will take it and immediatley put it into the sack-cloth. IT will sting like the foulest stench of dead flesh ever witnessed on earth. They will take the soul up, and whenever they take it past a grup of angels they will say 'Who is this evil soul?' They say, 'It is so- and- so the son of so-and-so,' using the worst names in wchich he was addressed in the world (They will go on) until they reach the first heaven. They will ask for it to be opened to them, and it will not be opened. '...No opening will there be of the gates of heaven, nor will hey enter the Garden, until the camel can pass through the eye of the needle..." (Al-A'raaf, 7:40)

What thoughts pop into your head when you see these pictures? Do I really need to make a post about it? lol. okay fine. THE HIJAB *dannannaananaaaaaa*
First of all I just want to say this post is BY FAR NOT JUDGING ANYONE. NOR is it saying that muslim girls should all be forced to wear hijab, because muslims who don't wear a hijab can still be modest and better than muslims who do wear the scarf. I understand that the hijab is a choice, and is hard to start wearing, I've gone through it all myself, and if you're a new convert or a young muslimah(teehee) then I totally understand, i guess I just don't believe in the whole "The hijab is in my heart" argument. My personal opinion, you are not in any way entitled to it. :)
In the Quran:
Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity of them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: they should not display their ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty...." Ok, I guess the hijab isn't what I wanted to really focus on in this post, i had something different in mind, but that was just a quick run-through.
Anyways there are just some people in life who irk me to the point where I just want to slap them, but of course I don't do that. What I'm talking about is when you see a muslim girl dressed in the tightest pair of jeans she owns and the most revealing tanktop she can buy. Her face is completely caked in make up and she walks around flicking her hair right and left and right and left until the person watching just gets completley dizzy and feels like throwing up. And of course this scene is never completed unless she has some boy drooling over her. And I swear if you tell me that this boy is in love with her because of her kindness and what's inside her heart, then please hit that red X on the top right (or the red circle on the rop left for mac-users) and go away. We all know what this boy is fooled by.Then she has the nerve to call herself muslim. My question: What is her connection to islam? What makes her a muslim and not a christian or jew or hindu or buddhist or atheist? And please don't say she believes in Allah, cuz CLEARLY CLEARLY that is not the case. No, but what's funnier is her going home 3 hours later, saying that she was in the Library doing homework. Really now?! OOOH no what's REALLY funnier is her praying after 5 minutes, standing in front of Allah asking for forgiveness, when the next day and the day after and after she's gonna keep doing the same thing. She's gonna go out and party and dance and drink. Ya RIGHT! Your prayers are really gonna get answered. I mean how many of you has seen something like that? For me, I've seen too many for my own liking. I mean, dating absolutley DISGUSTS me, it makes me throw up. Sure, there was a stage in my life where I wanted to rebel, but I never got even close to dating.*shudder*

This is only the shallow end of the snow on our porch, that has a roof over it. So the snow was much much much deeper than this.

March brings snow

Yay! it started to snow last night and the snow finally accumulated! And with our funky weather, it happened to snow in March...not January, not February, but March lol. :) The pictures look really dark, like it's night time but it's morning, :) the sun just hasn't risen because it's really cloudy...ANd I had to stop taking pictures cuz it started to snow some more! If you look carefully you can see the little snowflakes on the first picture, below

The red thing faraway is a barrel of gas because there's a construction site over there and the builders need the gas to fill up their tractors and such...

Tried to capture the snow with the trees...but all i got was trees :( oh well it's still a pretty picture!

First of all I wanted to thank you all for the sweet comments you added on my last post. :) i love you all!
Anyways I was just talking to a friend on the phone yesterday when she told me she was "yuyu". Because she said something and then was like "Oh, I just made fun of Christians". After that I was like "Wait but aren't you christian?" and she told me that she actually wasn't, she was a religion called "yuyu." I asked her what it was and she explained to me. So apparently it is a group of people who don't believe in the strictness of their religion or believe in scientific evidence rather than having a God. But they also believe all reigions are correct/right/true. That's really all I could understand because she didn't seem like she wanted to tell me much about it. So I kinda kept quiet and didn't aske alot of questons because she said that once she told 2 of her friends that she was "yuyu" and they had stopped talking to her cuz they were strict christians and were mad at her for not believing there was a God.

But anyways after we hung up, questions came rushing to my head. This is what I was wondering:

1. If they believe that all religions are true, then why not take one up? I mean like instead of being religion-less.

2. And if they believe all religions are true and those religions believe in God, then how would they think they were true if they themselves didn't believe in God?

3. Why did they celebrate Christmas and all other christian holidays, if they weren't christian?

4. And since they're not christian why celebrate christian holidays and not other holidays of different religion?

5. Do they pray/go to church or something?

6. What kind of scientific evidence could they provide about the creation of the world and other miracles?

I don't know these are just some of my questions that I would be thinking of. If you know the answers to any of these please feel free to educate me! And by the way, I'm not sure if that's how you spell "yuyu" it might be a different spelling I'm not sure.

I feel so much better now and I'm going to become a better person now. Ok so this is like a "New Years Resolution" almost 3 months into the New Year lol.
Anyways I'm going to try to smile when someone insults me and become less sensitive about things people say/do. Cuz I'm tired of caring about everything someone says about me/to me that is mean. Because you know what? They can just go suck it up, anything bad said about someone, comes bouncing back to whoever said it, so there. :p And another thing I want to work on, well it's something that's been going on in my head for forever, but I'm going to try to memorize the whole Quran and learn it by heart. I've decided on starting from Juzu' 30 and going backwards through the Quran, because obviously if i started to memorize the Quran from Surat ALbaqara, it'd probably ruin my whole "enthusiastic" mood, if you know what I mean lol. :)) So inshallah I want to start as soon as I can... :P

So this is the breakdown of what happened today at school. We had a sub for our health/gym class. He was the most racist person I have ever known. First, when he was telling us to quiet down me and a couple friends were zoning out and daydreaming, but apparently he was talking to us and and telling us to pay attention. He was like "Do you guys understand me? Please listen!" and I was, like I said daydreaming like all the rest of my friends. But of course being the racist person he is, singles me out, in front of the whole class and asks me if I understood what he was saying. And he didn't mean the regular check over sorta "Do you understand" but the whole "Do you understand English?" wtf! I mean how unfair is that? Of course he doesn't single out any of my other friends, just me. WHY? Simple, I was wearing a hijab, and i didn't look like an american. So of course that gives him the green sign to ask if I understood english. Yea...that's happened to me twice. Twice. Just because I wear a scarf covering a bunch of dead cells on the top of my head that gives them so much reason to ask if I spoke english. But the funny thing is, I don't have any accent whatsoever, I (not bragging at all) write essays and poems amazingly and I speak BETTER english than that teacher that singled me out. And if that's not enough, I get better grades in English class than anyone I know. But of course that's not enough. I bet you 100 dollars, that if I had perfectly white, white skin and blond hair and blue eyes, he would not have even bothered to ask me. Or what was better, if I had been black and had perfect curly hair that I flung, he would have laughed with me and joked along. But of course, me with the dark brown eyes, some what tanned skin, and scarf on my head predominentley made me stop knowing how to speak english. That is racism, that is messed up racism.
And then, after this, he gave us a test/survey thing to answer. When we were done, he told us to get out ipods, phones, whatever, as long as we were quiet. So my friends and I got out our phones and texted eachother quietly. Key word: QUIETLY. And there were two students sitting in front of us (both black) chatting away and discussing their phones. Yet this teacher, looked at me and my friends(who all happened to be white) and yelled at us for getting out our cellphones. WHAT?! Then, he took them away and told us to pick them up at the office after school ends with an adult. Yet he clearly had seen the two students in front of us talking and using their phones, but he of course said NOTHING because they were the same race as he. Therefore that gives him all the reason to not confiscate their cellphones. How nice. So...after that, in my last period class, I was working along with a friend of mine and we were filling out a sheet on why we chose to do a project about Mother Teresa. Anyways, my friend was like "I read a book on her and thought it was interesting." And so I was teasing her around and I said, " So you do know how to read!" because this particular friend HATED HATED reading. And she knew I was teasing, and usually she would laugh along and think up of a good come back to keep me quiet. But for some reason, she was sort of sad today and didn't answer. But the student teacher who was there, came over just as I said that and started yelling at me about being mean to this girl. I was just kidding and my friend knew it. So after that, I just couldn't take it anymore, and broke down crying. I ran to the bathroom and started to cry really bad. But in the bathroom, I found the friend I was joking around with. She kept asking me what was wrong and everything just spilled out. I was sick of everything. I told her, I was just kidding when I said that she couldn't read, and she said she knew that but she was just sad and really didn't feel like joking around. And I couldn't control my crying.I just kept crying and then finally, I pulled myself together and went back to the classroom.It's just not fair how everyhting was anymore. Did I really need to go to the extent of making a shirt that said "Just because I wear a hijab, it doesn't mean I don't understand english"? Because if I had to do that I would.

Minor signs of the day of judgment, which have already happened?!

I've already posted this on the Signs of the day of judgement post, but I thought I'd put the Minor signs back up and see which have already happened...

The Minor Signs:

· The disappearance of knowledge and the appearance of ignorance (Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Majah, & Ahmad)-umm I'll say one thing, "Do you wear that thing on your head in the shower?!" how many of us has heard that?

· Books/writing will be widespread and (religious) knowledge will be low (Ahmad)-Definetley, books are everywhere and yet people are slowly letting go of their religion.

· Adultery and fornication will be prevalent (The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that this has never happened without new diseases befalling the people, which their ancestors had not known.) (Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Majah, & Al-Haythami) -seriously now, isn't this like everywhere?

· When fornication becomes widespread among your leaders (The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that this will happen when the people stop forbidding evil) (Ibn Majah)-again, everywhere the whole concept of boyfriend/girlfriends where does it end up? usually with the girl getting pregenant. and are they married? of course NOT!

· Adultery and fornication will be performed in the open-hahhahaah No comments :p

· The consumption of intoxicants will be widespread (Bukhari & Muslim)-how many bars exist in your area?

· Women will outnumber men......eventually 50:1 (Bukhari, Muslim, & Ahmad)- There are more women than men in the world.... there was a census count taken.

· Killing, killing, killing (Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Majah, & Ahmad)-Oh the poor people of Gaza, Iraq, and the endless wars going on...

· The nations of the earth will gather against the Muslims like hungry people going to sit down to a table full of food. This will occur when the Muslims are large in number, but "like the foam of the sea".-hmmm bound to happen, I mean it's already started in Palestine.

· The children will be filled with rage (at-Tabarani, al-Hakim)-oh gosh, how true

· Paying zakat becomes a burden and miserliness becomes widespread; charity is given reluctantly (at-Tirmidhi & Al-Haythami) -of course....

· Miserliness will be thrown into the hearts of people (Bukhari) -already happened

· Episodes of sudden death will become widespread (Ahmad) -i don't know there are some cases where that's happened...

· There will be people who will be brethren in public but enemies in secret (He was asked how that would come about and replied, "Because they will have ulterior motives in their mutual dealings and at the same time will fear one another.") (at-Tirmidhi) -oh goodness how so so true.

· When a man obeys his wife and disobeys his mother; and treats his friend kindly while shunning his father (at-Tirmidhi) -how sad :( but it's reality

· When voices are raised in the mosques (at-Tirmidhi) -there have been FIGHTS in mosques let alone raised voices

· People will walk in the marketplace with their thighs exposed -hahahhahahhah blame the booty shorts and miniskirts

· Great distances will be traversed in short spans of time-airplanes, it takes like a day to go from one place to the other.

· The people of Iraq will recieve no food and no money due to oppression by the Romans (Europeans) (Muslim)-oppressed definetley and the romans maybe...

· People will hop between the clouds and the earth -what about skydiving?

· A tribulation will enter everyone’s home (Ahmad) -oh god yes

· The leader of a people will be the worst of them (at-Tirmidhi)-hahah stupid DICTATORS

· Leaders of people will be oppressors (Al-Haythami)-tell me about it!

· People will treat a man with respect out of fear for some evil he might do (at-Tirmidhi) -oh yess it'll take days to tell you of all the dictators that people respected out of fear.

· Men will begin to wear silk (at-Tirmidhi)-ohhhhh what can I say? Hasn't that happened!?

· Female singers and musical instruments will become popular (at-Tirmidhi) -NO way! *sarcasm* lol they're everywhere

· When singers become common (Al-Haythami)-again, they're everywhere!

· People will dance late into the night -nightclubs, etc...

· When the last ones of the Ummah begin to curse the first ones (at-Tirmidhi) -definetley already happened

· People will claim to follow the Qur'an but will reject hadith & sunnah (Abu Dawood)-already happened

· People will believe in the stars (Al-Haythami) -I wish I wish upon a star...

· People will reject al-Qadr (the Divine Decree of Destiny) (Al-Haythami)-how true

· Time will pass rapidly (Bukhari, Muslim, & Ahmad)-quoting my mom "It feels like yesterday when you were only 2 years old!"

· Good deeds will decrease (Bukhari) -The good deeds are goin' down

· Smog will appear over cities because of the evil that they are doing-hmmm?

· People will be carrying on with their trade, but their will only be a few trustworthy persons - oh yess

· Wealth will increase so much so that if a man were given 10,000, he would not be content with it (Ahmad & Bukhari) -how many people like that exist?

· A man will pass by a grave and wish that he was in their place (Bukhari) -*sigh*

· Earthquakes will increase (Bukhari & Muslim)-maybe, accroding to surveys and such..

· There will be attempts to make the deserts green -? maybe.

· The appearance of false messengers (30 dajjals) (Bukhari)-oh yess there are always people from Jehova's Witness claiming that another prohphet is coming/ already has come and also other religions.

· Women will be naked in spite of being dressed, these women will be led astray & will lead others astray (Muslim) -hahahhahahahh

· The conquest of Constantinople by the Muslims (Ahmad) -refer to the history, that's already happened.

· The conquest of India by the Muslims, just prior to the return of Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon both of them)(Ahmad, an-Nisa'i, at-Tabarani, al-Hakim)-not yet...

· When people begin to compete with others in the construction of taller buildings (Bukhari)-haha blaim it on the sky scrapers.

· There will be a special greeting for the people of distinction (Ahmad) -yuppers

· The Euphrates will disclose a treasure (The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that whoever is present should not take anything from it) (Bukhari & Muslim)-not yet

· Two large groups, adhering to the same religious teaching will fight each other with large numbers of casualties (Bukhari & Muslim)-oh how true.

· Wild animals will be able to talk to humans (Ahmad)-not yet

· A man will leave his home and his thigh or hip will tell him what is happening back at his home (Ahmad)-not yet

· Years of deceit in which the truthful person will not be believed and the liar will be believed (Ahmad)-yes and still going on...

· Bearing false witness will become widespread (Al-Haythami & Ahmad)-definetley

· When men lie with men and women lie with women (Al-Haythami) -*shhh* it's called gay and lesbo

· Trade will become so widespread that a woman will be forced to help her husband in business (Ahmad) -hah already happened

Oranges are red Violets are blue

Subhan allah, my mom and i went grocery shopping and we were at the fruit section. I looked around and stopped at a basket with oranges. These oranges were orange(duh!) but they were blotched red too. My mom told me they were usually somewhat reddish on the inside too. So of course I beg her to get them cuz i really want to try red oranges .lol. We get 4 oranges(and other stuff too) and go back home. At home, for some reason I'm really excited about trying the oranges. I ask my dad to peel the orange and cut it up because I really can't be trusted with sharp objects (mwahahhaha). My dad peels it and gives it to me to eat. But the color of it is AMAZING. It's like a really dark blood red on the inside. We've never seen anything like it. Mom says the oranges she's eaten before are usually red but not THIS red. Anyways, they are probably the BEST oranges I've ever eaten subhan allah. ANd they were special enough for me to take pictures of them! The pictures aren't really clear because the camera was having a mind of it's own but anyways...

The same wind

I travel down the dust swept road
Calm, and anxious
And I feel like I’ve been here before
Gone down this old
Harmonious road
Apple picking
Handed that same ash-torn basket
Pressed against my darkened palm
With that same feeling
The peaceful contentment
That lay heavy against my heart
I walk into the darkened shed
Where I had stood
Some years ago
Waiting for my first lesson
On how to apple pick
I remember sitting on my dad’s shoulder
Waiting for him to stop
Under the shade of some huge tree
The same tree I’ve picked from, ever since
The branches bend down obediently
As I put my weight on one of the apples
I tug on the big, red fruit
And hold it in my hands
I wonder if it could be the same apple I had picked with my dad
Too bad we hadn’t taken pictures
I sit down on the old road
And take a bite of the apple
Why is it so quiet?

Signs of The day of Judgment

One thing that I've always captured my attention when people (sheiks etc) talk about islam is the hereafter and the signs of the Day of Judgment. So I did a little bit of research on the subject.
First sign is the appearance of Imam Mahdi. The word "Mahdi" means the guided one. Hadhrat Ali (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, "Even if only a day remains for Qiyamah to come, yet Allah will surely send a man from my family who will fill this world with such justice and fairness, just as it initially was filled with oppression." (Abu Dawood. Imam Mahdi will be the first to be sent down to humans.

His Emergence and Rule

“Hadhrat Umme Salmah (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “After the death of a Ruler there will be some dispute between the people. At that time a citizen of Medina will flee (from Medina) and go to Makkah. While in Makkah, certain people will approach him between Hajrul Aswad and Maqaame Ibraheem, and forcefully pledge their allegiance to him.

Thereafter a huge army will proceed from Syria to attack him but when they will be at Baida, which is between Makkah and Medina; they will be swallowed into the ground.

On seeing this, the Abdaals of Shaam as well as large numbers of people from Iraq will come to him and pledge their allegiance to him. Then a person from the Quraish, whose uncle will be from the Bani Kalb tribe, will send an army to attack him, only to be overpowered, by the will of Allah. This (defeated) army will be that of the Bani Kalb. Unfortunate indeed is he who does not receive a share from the booty of the Kalb. This person (Imam Mahdi) will distribute the spoils of war after the battle. He will lead the people according to the Sunnat and during his reign Islam will spread throughout the world. He will remain till seven years (since his emergence). He will pass away and the Muslims will perform his Janazah salaat." (Abu Dawood) …

While the people will be pledging their allegiance to Imam Mahdi, a voice from the unseen will call out:

"This is the representative of Allah,
The Mahdi, listen to him and obey him"

Imam Mahdi is said to come when the world and people are very confused, and there will be so much death and turmoil, that a person won’t be able to find a place to stay from all the oppressiveness and fear. There will be many battles and fitnaas and the people will be so scared that they only wish they could die. This is when Imam Mahdi will appear and help the people. But before his appearance there will be many tribal fights, and the people going to Hajj will be “looted” and a battle in Mina will take place where tons of people will be killed and murdered. A man; known as the Sufyani, will appear before Imam Mahdi, and will be a tyrant who spreads evil and corrupts the people and earth. He will murder children and women and kill many, many people. When he hears that Imam Mahdi is coming, The Sufyani will try to send his army to capture and kill him, but the earth will swallow up his army before they even reach Imam Mahdi.

Abu Huraira (R.A.) has narrated that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, ''A man will emerge from the depth of Damascus. He will be called Suffyani. Most of those who follow him will be from the tribe of Kalb. He will kill by ripping the stomachs of women and even kill the children. A man from my family will appear in Haram, the news of his advent will reach the Suffyani and he will send forth one of his armies. He (referring to Imam Mahdi) will defeat them. They will then travel with whoever remains until they come to a desert and they will be swallowed. None will be saved except the one who had informed the others about them. '' (Mustadarak).

So first, Imam Mahdi appears in Makah and then goes to Medina. An army (The army of Mansour) will go to Makah to help Imam Mahdi. On their way they win many, many battles and no one can stop them. The Suffyanis (army sent by Sufyan to kill Imam Mahdi) are then swallowed by the earth on their way to Mekah. Then, Imam Mahdi and his Muslim army go to “confront” the Christians. There will be a battle, but before that, the Christians will ask the Muslims to return their prisoners of war, but the muslims will refuse. They start to fight and A third of Imam Mahdi’s army will flee (their repentance will not be accepted), one-third will be martyred, and one-third will gain victory over the Christians. The Muslim army and Imam Mahdi will then conquer Palestine. Imam Mahdi goes back to Syria and re-establishes Muslim rule after the Christians have taken over it. But at this time, many Muslims are weak and the righteous and pious will be very little in number.

Then there will be signs of the appearance of Dajjal. Before he appears, there will be three years of drought. And then Dajjal will appear and claim to be Prophet Jesus (Peace be Upon him), and will spread much hatred and corruption. The yahudis; his followers will be very fancily dressed in silk and carry expensive swords. He will go around the world telling people he is the prophet. Then the true Prophet Jesus will appear in Imam Mahdi’s lifetime and Dajjal will lead his army in a war against Prophet Jesus and his followers. Prophet Jesus and Imam Mahdi will defeat Dajjal at the Gate of Hudd, near an Israeli airport in ‘Ifiq’. The muslims are therefore victorious, and at the death of Dajjal, there is going to be total peace and harmony on earth. The earth will be rich in crops and the people will follow Islam. Prophet Jesus (A.S.) will then receive a revelation that tells him that Yajooj and Majooj (two tribes existing even now but are imprisoned) will be released, and create much trouble on the earth, but the believers will be taken to Mt. Toor. Yajooj and Majooj will reach Jerusalem and say that they have conquered the world. It is said that they will shoot arrow into the sky to conquer the heavens, but their arrows will come back blood-stained. At Mt. Toor, where the believers are, there will be a lot of hardships and there will not be enough provisions and food. Prophet Jesus and the rest of the Muslims will pray for the removal of the calamite. Their prayers are answered and Yajooj and Majooj will develop an infection and die. The muslims again pray that birds come down and dispose of Yajooj and Majooj in the ocean. After this, it will rain for forty days and the earth will be fresh and rich in crops, and there will be a peace on earth, while Prophet Jesus (A.S.) is alive for 19 years after marriage. Prophet Jesus will then pass away, and be buried beside Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). There will be many leaders after Prophet Jesus (A.S.) and the earth will start to decay and again infidelity will set in.

The final signs of the Day of Judgment:

The ground will start to cave in, in three places, then there will be 40 days where the skies will be covered in smoke and fog, where the non-believers become unconscious and the Muslims will become sick. Then the skies will clear up, but a night, three nights long will follow the fog and cause a lot of restlessness of people. After the night of three nights, the sun will miraculously rise from the west. After this incident, the repentance of people will never be accepted. A day later, the beast of the earth will appear, breaking the ground in half. This beast will talk to people and mark faces of the believers in glitter and the non-believers faces become dark. Thereafter, will be a breeze coming from the south that will make sores in the armpits of the believers and casue them to die. After this, the destruction of Kabah and Hajj will stop, and the Quran will be lifted from the people’s hearts. The final sign of the Day of Judgment is a fire in Yemen that will follow people to Syria, where it will stop. A couple years later, a trumpet will be blown marking the beginning of The Day of Judgment. These are all the Major signs of The Day of Judgment.

Walk to Karbala-for Imam Hussein

Millions of people are making their way to Karbla, Iraq to visit the shrine of Imam Hussein on this day, it has been 40 days since the day he was killed. Imam Hussein was killed 1300+ years ago, and still people are grieving over his cruel death. Our family has been watching the people walk towards Karbala from their many destinations (Baghdad, Najaf, Basra, Mosul and even outside Iraq). The people, all ages, races, men women, children, handicaps walk to visit the shrine or tomb of Imam Hussein. Their destination is pictured below. Here are the pictures I have found:

Hahahh I was flipping through some of the older pictures I'd taken and I came across these. This was prepared as a dinner on the day that was the birth of our Prophet Muhammad :) Doesn't that look so good? lol. And the first picture, the candles are arranged, spelling the word "mawlid" in arabic (lol my idea :p) which in close meanings is "birth of".

I think I might scream...I'm really annoyed and ticked off. I don't why but these days I just get annoyed with people really quickly. Anyways this really has to do with the (muslim but non-practicing muslim) girl I've been talking about in my other post (called Advice). So today, of course she brought up the topic of valentines day (*groan*) but it was something different this time and really offensive. Again I'm going to re-write our conversation, what I say is in blue and what she says is in red.

"I don't have a valentine."
"Oh, that's not really a big deal."
" I guess so, who's aYOUR valentine?"
"Erm-no one..."
"Is it the one above?"
"What?"
"Um..no I'm not going to say cuz if I do you're gonna get 'all up on me' and be mad"
"What are you talking about?"
"Okay, I'll tell you, is your valentine Allah?"

WHAT?! WHAT?!!!!!!! WHAT?! DID I MISS SOMETHING?! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...and you ask why I'm annoyed. God, I know she wont listen to anything I would have said, I just HATE how she makes fun of things, it's really not right...

Gosh it was so windy today, i could barely walk. But you know what I hate MOST about windy days? The hijab. It gets a mind of its own, it starts to fly around and flap up and today was no exception. I had to walk around holding my Amirah hijab down in the front so it didn't come up and reveal everything. Lol I hate days like this, i mean the weather was beautiful but there was too much wind. The weather here is so strange. Yesterday was boiling hot, today was super windy, tomorrow is supposed to be spring-ish and cool, and a week from now it's supposed to snow! So I don't know what to wear and with my luck I'll go out wearing boots and a sweatshirt on a hot hot day and end up wearing flip flops and a cool cotton shirt on a snow day... :P
Anyways, I was blogging to share with you a conversation about Hijab that I finally found after much searching on google. Here it is:

"I'm so tired"
"Tired of what?"

"Of all these people judging me."
"Who judged you?"

"Like that woman, every time I sit with her, she tells me to wear
hijab."
"Oh, hijab and music! The mother of all topics!"

"Yeah! I listen to music without hijab.haha!"
"Maybe she was just giving you advice."

"I don't need her advice. I know my religion. Can't she mind her own business?"
"Maybe you misunderstood. She was just being nice."

"Keeping out of my business, that would be nice..."
"But it's her duty to encourage you do to good."

"Trust me. That was no encouragement. And what do you mean 'good' ?"
"Well, wearing hijab, that would be a good thing to do."

"Says who?"
"It's in the Qur'an, isn't it?"

"Yes. She did quote me something."
"She said Surah Nur, and other places of the Qur'an."

"Yes, but it's not a big sin anyway. Helping people and praying is more important."
"True. But big things start with small things."

"That's a good point, but what you wear is not important. What's important is to have a good healthy heart."
"What you wear is not important?"

"That's what I said."
"Then why do you spend an hour every morning fixing up?"

"What do you mean?"
"You spend money on cosmetics, not to mention all the time you spend on fixing your hair and low-carb dieting."

"So?"
"So, your appearance IS important."

"No. I said wearing hijab is not an important thing in religion."
"If it's not an important thing in religion, why is it mentioned in the Holy Qur'an?"

"You know I can't follow all that's in Qur'an."
"You mean God tells you something to do, you disobey and then it's OK?"

"Yes. God is forgiving."
"God is forgiving to those who repent and do not repeat their
mistakes."

"Says who?"
"Says the same book that tells you to cover."

"But I don't like hijab, it limits my freedom."
"But the lotions, lipsticks, mascara and other cosmetics set you free?!
What's your definition of freedom anyway?"

"Freedom is in doing whatever you like to do."
"No. Freedom is in doing the right thing, not in doing whatever we wish to do."

"Look! I've seen so many people who don't wear hijab and are nice people, and so many who wear hijab and are bad people."
"So what? There are people who are nice to you but are alcoholic. Should we all be alcoholics? You made a stupid point."

"I don't want to be an extremist or a fanatic. I'm OK the way I am without hijab."
"Then you are a secular fanatic. An extremist in disobeying God."

"You don't get it, if I wear hijab, who would marry me?!"
"So all these people with hijab never get married?!"

"Okay! What if I get married and my husband doesn't l i ke it? And wants me to remove it?"
"What if your husband wants you to go out with him on a bank robbery?!"

"That's irrelevant, bank robbery is a crime."
"Disobeying your Creator is not a crime?"

"But then who would hire me?"
"A company that respects people for who they are."

"Not after 9-11"
"Yes. After 9-11. Don't you know about Hanan who just got into med school? And the other one, what was her name, the girl who always wore a white hijab.ummm."

"Yasmeen?"
"Yes. Yasmeen. She just finished her MBA and is now interning for GE."

"Why do you reduce religion to a piece of cloth anyway?"
"Why do you reduce womanhood to high heals and lipstick colors?"

"You didn't answer my question."
"In fact, I did. Hijab is not just a piece of cloth. It is obeying God in a difficult environment. It is courage, faith in action, and true womanhood. But your short sleeves, tight pants."

"That's called 'fashion', you live in a cave or something? First
of all, hijab was founded by men who wanted to control women."
"Really? I did not know men could control women by hijab."

"Yes. That's what it is."
"What about the women who fight their husbands to wear hijab? And women in France who are forced to remove their hijab by men? What do you say about that?"

"Well, that's different."
"What difference? The woman who asked you to wear hijab.she was a woman, right?"

"Right, but."
"But fashions that are designed and promoted by male-dominated corporations, set you free? Men have no control on exposing women and using them as a commodity?! Give me a break!"

"Wait, let me finish, I was saying."
"Saying what? You think that men control women by hijab?"

"Yes."
"Specifically how?"

"By telling women how and what to wear, dummy!"
"Doesn't TV, magazines and movies tell you what t o wear, and how to be 'attractive'?"

"Of course, it's fashion."
"Isn't that control? Pressuring you to wear what they want you to wear?"

Silence
"Not just controlling you, but also controlling the market."

"What do you mean?"
"I mean, you are told to look skinny and anorexic like that woman on the cover of the magazine, by men who design those magazines and sell those products."

"I don't get it. What does hijab have to do with products."
"It has everything to do with that. Don't you see? Hijab is a threat to consumerism, women who spend billions of dollars to look skinny and live by standards of fashion designed by men.and then here is Islam, saying trash all that nonsense and focus on your soul, not on your looks, and do not worry what men think of your looks."

"Like I don't have to buy hijab? Isn't hijab a product?"
"Yes, it is. It is a product that sets you free from male-dominated consumer ism ."

"Stop lecturing me! I WILL NOT WEAR HIJAB! It is awkward, outdated, and totally not suitable for this society ... Moreover, I am only 20 and too young to wear hijab!"
"Fine. Say that to your Lord, when you face Him on Judgment Day."

"Fine."
"Fine."

Silence
"Shut up and I don't want to hear more about hijab niqab schmijab

She stared at the mirror, tired of arguing with herself all this time. Successful enough, she managed to shut the voices in her head, with her own opinions triumphant in victory on the matter, and a final modern decision accepted by the society, rejected by the Faith:

I feel so frustrated, and i get really mad when people just use Islam as nothing but a name. They call themselves Muslims, even though they don't pray, they don't fast, they don't read Quran, they don't even KNOW what Islam really is. My friend, who's name I'm not gonna mention is exactly like that. And by saying this I am NOT NOT NOT backbiting, or talking about her, but i just need advise from you guys... Anyways this girl is "Muslim" at least that's what she calls herself, but truly her only connection to Islam is that she doesn't eat pork....She says she's Muslim, and at one point i was tempted to ask her how she was 'Muslim'. So this girl and I were having a conversation that happened to be about Valentines day...it was something like this:

Me talking is blue and her talking is red okay?

"Hey I was about to buy this little stuffed animal that was holding a heart that said 'be mine' on it."

"Aww that's really cute"

"Yea but I asked my dad if i could get it and he said ABSOLUTELY NOT."

"Oh..that's okay!"

"Ya my dad is mean...he said that since we were muslims we shouldn't worry about love, but i was like COME ON dad!"

"Ummm..."

"I mean it's not like I was gonna give it to a boy or something."

"uhh..."

Ok anyways there's more to this conversation but I'm gonna stop right here and comment about a few things....ok first of all when she say that we're MUSLIMS we shouldn't be worrying about LOVE, I just wanted to point out that this girl DATES BOYS so she's not the one to be talking...and again I'm not judging but it just really bothers me how some people use Islam as only a label and fourget that they have responsibilities to put up with as well... and when she says that 'her dad is mean' she's just pointing out the fact that he wont let her go to parties or whatever else and doesn't let her wear tight jeans even though the ones she wears are tight enough.... but anyways God I was so tempted to ask her just exactly how she prove herself to be muslim but of course I didn't. Wow...was i pissed off at the conversation because I hate how she said muslims but when it was Ramadan she made fun and said she couldn't fast because of 'helath issues' even though I KNOW KNOW KNOW that she is perfectly fine but she decided that she hadn't felt like fasting so she didn't, and then if that's not bad enough she used to take out her freezing cold water and drink it infront of my face even though she KNEW I was fasting, and sometimes she'd lift up my hijab and take a "peek" at my hair infront of everyone, and she'd go all like I'm sorry on me when I'd get mad at her for doing that. I mean if it was someone non-muslim and didn't really know then I wouldn't care but calling hersefl muslima and doing that to me just made me have all the reason to be mad at her...
Anyways in conclusion I want to ask you what you would do if you were in my place, I mean I really want her to understand what Islam REALLY is, but I don't want to seem like a teacher and offend her, but at the same time I don't want to just leave her hanging like that...so any advice you have I'd be grateful to read...

The pureness of a baby

Today me and my mom went to visit one of her friends who had just delivered a little baby girl *awwwwwwww* the girl, her name is Heidi is one day old :) and she is the cutest thing EVER. As i look at her through the little (umm whats it called, for God's sake it looks like a tub lol) umm tub, if you will, and I couldn't help but thinking how pure she was. Her slate was completely white, no sins, nothing. Born on a state of fitrah. I looked at her and remebered how babies were born muslim, born pure and true. But it was their parents that made them otherwise...I felt so sad, that such a beautiful baby would have to lose that pureness :(
But soon everything would change, that baby would grow up and live through the obstacles life would bring...that is if, Allah wills. And ofcourse the picture is ABSOLUTLEY NOT NOT her it's just a one year old baby picture I found on google :)

A rose for you

A beautiful rose I took a picture of...I don't know what to say it's so amazing, there are no words to describe it's beauty except "mashallah". After a non-believer witnesses such beauty how ca they not believe? In the Quran it says:

"He sends down water from the sky and with it brings forth the buds of every plant. From these we bring forth green foliage and close-growing grain, palm-trees laden with clusters of dates within reach, vineyards and olive groves and pomegranates (which are) alike and different. Behold their fruits when they bear fruit and ripen-surely. In these there are signs for true believers."
(Sura Anam 6, Ayah 99)

In Surat Al-Waqiaa, ( the Event) Ayah 63 it says:
Consider the seeds you grow. Is it you that give them growth or We?

Somethings to contemplate for Atheists:
How does a simple seed turn into a flowering, budding plant? Look at the majesty of those trees....is it really just spontaneous? Do the flowers grow out of the blue? Can you make a seed turn into a gigantic tree using your own magic?Is it you that makes the palm trees give clusters of dates or is there something beyond? Is there a God, An all-powerful, All-Knowing God that makes things happen? Surely isn't He the one that created you and brought you into this world? isn't He the one that made the earth for us to live on, the sky to give us rain, and the plants to give us food?

Just think about it....

Today at school, still stuck watching WWII, D-day, and whatever other Battles in the great history of endless battles, movies. This one was about D-day. (you know-June 6, blah blah blah against Germany to liberate the west because Hitler took it over and so on...) and the movie was bloody torture. Pain and fear, firing guns, bombing, you know a war classic. The girl sitting a seat away from me, had hid her face behind her hands so as not to see the movie. And the girl sitting further away started to laugh when someone got blown up, and she cracked up when she saw the soldiers dump the blood out of his helmet and put it back on. She cracked up when she saw that. Cracked up. Laughed uncontrollably, while a girl a seat away from me was near tears. Now...would you LAUGH at something like that?! I felt really bad that this girl was laughing I mean imagine going off to a bloody, crazy war seeing everyone get bombed and killed and your brother shot in front of your eyes. I simply cannot see why she would laugh at that. I was torn up seeing these things...I started to recite Ayat Alkursi in my mind unconciously until I felt my heart soothe and calm down. Sometimes I just wonder how somebody could go on living life and not be able to feel the peaceful contemptment of bowing down to Allah in sujud, in prayer, and not being able to feel the happiness the soul felt when reciting the magical words of Allah;the beautiful Quran.

wrote to her senator about the issues of Palestine and Isreal and the injustice of it all. So today-er- right now I just sent our State Senator a message urging him to help... I wont be surprised if he doesn't answer but still I would have tried. I was almost getting ready to send him that video of the Palestinian baby that was burnt to death, but I changed my mind lol-well actually it could have knocked some sense into him if he did watch it, but he might think I am a hostile creature of the insane world. And besides aren't we supposed to "respect" our Senators or something? Even if they don't respect that the Palestanians have the right to live. Actually in a(perfect er-sane world the senator might send me a reply that goes something like this lol...

Dear Ms.____

I recieved your message that addressed your deep concern about the inhumanity and the injustice of the murdering and massacuring of the Palestinian people and I totally agree with you.I shall talk to the person (official? president?) and we will turn against the Israelis and fight them out of Palestine.
